Welcome To The Garden: The 9 Fruit Of The Holy Spirit

But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23

While writing my previous update, “For My Father” Opening Scene: Supplemental Footage, I thought about New Jersey being the garden state and Orange being a fruit and this made me think of the Garden Of Eden from The Book Of Genesis in The Holy Bible. This led me to The 9 Fruit of The Holy Spirit. As written in Galatians 5: 22-23, the 9 fruit are as following: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control.

The 9 Fruit of the Holy Spirit are the 9 visible attributes of a Christian life. They were written by Apostle Paul in his Letter to the Galatians. These fruit are very enlightening because if we spiritually posses them, we will be better people. Using the 9 fruit will also equip us to deal with the evil forces of this world. I decided to write and share my thoughts on the fruit because I need to understand, remember and possess them in my heart and soul now more than ever before. Writing important things down has always helped me to understand and remember them. It is my desire and goal to apply the 9 Fruit of The Holy Sprit in my everyday life. I hope that we all seek and share The 9 Fruit of The Holy Spirit with each other. They are infallible sources of wisdom, strength and preservation because against them, there are no laws.

Love never fails so it conquers all. This is an old saying but it has very true meaning. I will never forget when I learned that charity is love and love is charity. I learned this by observing how The Holy Bible interchangeably uses the two words in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 in various versions. It was like the epiphany of a lifetime. I thought to myself, “Duh!” So, THAT’S why charity never fails. Charity never fails because Charity is Love and love conquers all. It makes perfect sense.

I love Love and all that it is
I love saying, “I Love You” and I love meaning “I Love You”
Love is a beautiful thing
Love was The Reason for The King of Kings

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

It is my privilege to share what I have learned about joy. I am blessed beyond words to have experienced the zenith of all Joy, which comes through the salvation of Christ. There is no greater joy than being saved by The Lord, Jesus Christ.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth,
burst into jubilant song with music;
make music to the Lord with the harp,
with the harp and the sound of singing,
with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn—
shout for joy before the Lord, the King.
Let the sea resound, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it.
Let the rivers clap their hands,
let the mountains sing together for joy;
let them sing before the Lord,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples with equity.
Psalms 98:4-9

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
Luke 15:7

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:8-9

I have been blessed to know peace, personally, through the gift of writing. Writing has always calmed me and given me inner peace. When I write, I feel a huge sigh of relief from spiritual pain. Music has also given me peace by being a vehicle that allows me to evolve through my writing. I remember 9 years ago when I got away from all the conflict and arrived in LA. Classical music helped me tremendously. During this time, I listened to it almost everyday because it was extremely calming. It was truly amazing to discover the power of classical music because it didn’t have lyrics or words, yet it spoke to me stronger than any other music during this time.

I doubt that I would have been able to heal from the wounds and pain of my past if it weren’t for peace.

Jesus Christ is The Prince of Peace.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

Peace is rejuvenating and a necessary component of healing. I had to go away from the all the conflict in order to heal. Our enemies want to keep us trapped in conflict and the confusion of futility so that we succumb to them. Jesus Christ will give us the peace that we need to heal and reclaim what we lost. He will return what the enemy took away because He already paid the cost. I never knew peace and comfort and the absence of conflict, tension, hatred and stress like when I gave my heart and soul to Jesus Christ. The world looked and felt so different. Jesus will carry all the weight for you. He will take away all of your pain and love us all the same.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew 11:29

The love of Jesus Christ has shown me a better way to be. Sometimes I fall weak to the hatred around me but I thank Jesus for never leaving me. I hope in Him that I always choose to walk in His light and follow His fruit.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
Matthew 5:9

Patience is a necessity for a dreamer. You cannot pursue a dream without patience and the ability to endure. Patience is the fruit that teaches you things about your dream that you never knew before. The dream looks so perfect and priceless inside the mind’s eye but patience reveals the concrete details to you and I. Through patience, the dream grows. Patience allows the discernment of Jesus Christ to flow. When we posses patience, we can wait on The Lord.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31

Sweet, faithful, tender, loving kindness is something that Jesus has blessed me to appreciate and love. Even though I have struggled with my temper, I am a huge fan of kindness.
Being in such a cruel world has shown me how many people despise kindness. A lot of people can’t appreciate kindness because society teaches them that she’s for the weak.
This is absolutely and completely false
Kindness is so strong, that against her, there are no laws
Kindness produces evidence of many rewards

Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, he will repay him for his deed
Proverbs 19:17

I have been heartbroken and emotionally shattered as a result of expecting kindness from people I have been kind to. Mean people hurt and bully with words and actions but kindness heals and rebuilds the soul. Kindness reminds me of the first time I fell in love with a poem. I hope that kindness will always be a priority in my life because I have witnessed kindness sustain me when I was lost in the wilderness.
When I had no friends that I could call
Kindness spoke to me, through strangers in a mesh hall
Thousands of miles from home
Kindness became my helper
Her existence made me strong
Kindness goes a very, very long way

A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.
Proverbs 11:17

Goodness conquers evil
Goodness overcomes every sin and every sinner
Goodness is Godliness
Goodness lives in the heart’s of true winners
Goodness is tender and sweet, it is righteous, holy, humble and meek
God’s goodness protects us while we sleep
The Good Shepherd giveth His life for His sheep

Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
Psalms 34:8

Jesus Christ is the judge of faithfulness and He reveals his judgments to us through the manifestations of the things we have faith and hope in Him for. Faith is the fruit that evens the score. Faith is the substance that comforts the poor. I know that I would be lost without faith.

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
John 20:29

Without gentleness, humanity could not survive. The gentleness of a mother’s touch transfers the love that keeps a baby alive. Gentleness is a fruit that nurtures, protects and even heals. Gentleness is one of the most attractive qualities a person can possess. Gentleness is a standard whereby a man’s true strength is tested. It is important that men guard their God given dominion over fish, birds, cattle and earth. By possessing the fruit of gentleness, men of God put Jesus Christ first. When we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts, we naturally possess a gentleness that promotes peace and goodness amongst mankind.

To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, [but] gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
Titus 3:2

I have always admired discipline and self control. Mastering self control is a highly preferred and sought after personal goal. Self control is an extremely important fruit because it lends to the preservation of the soul. Self-control is a fruit that I have learned more about from lacking it than from possessing it. I know what it means to lack self-control. I am very thankful that all things are possible through Jesus Christ. It has been very difficult for me maintain self-control in emotionally adverse situations. Every time I lost or lose control of myself, I feel like I let myself down. Like I fell victim to foolish pride. Often times, I have. Being out of control is truly sad. My desire for self-control makes me seek wisdom because self-control is a product of wisdom.

Like a city with breached walls is a man without self-control
Proverbs 25:28

I realize that having the peace and love that comes from accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior is the only thing that has ever helped me control myself.

It’s truly amazing how Jesus enters our spirit and helps us overcome weaknesses and shortcomings that have enslaved us most of our lives.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
John 8:36

There was a time when unwarranted and unjustified attacks and provocation caused me to become completely enraged.

Jesus showed me that I was a puppet of my own short-comings long before I was a slave.

I could have never gotten beyond the darkest and most painful stage, if it weren’t for Jesus Christ.

When we are tempted by haters to engage in conflict, the best thing to do is pray.

Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.
Psalms 25:19

When we seek Jesus, He comes into our minds, hearts and souls and comforts and heals us through His Loving Kindness. The enemy strikes at every point of our weakness with intent to infiltrate our spirit to control and destroy us. When we seek Jesus Christ and His Will for our lives, He protects us and fills us with abundance due to His mercy and the truth and blessings of The Fruit of His Holy Spirit. When this world brings you down and makes you feel lost all over again, seek Jesus Christ. He is the Truth, the Way and the Life.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
Romans 1:16
